WOOD & SONS - Bedford, Grafton and Denbigh
These three colourful patterns from the early 1930s were clearly all designed by the same person. They all feature handpainted flowers on a brown transfer, with lavish and detailed gilding and navy blue rims.
The registration numbers of the designs date from 1930, and are consecutive - 753689, 753690 and 753691. The square shape of the bowls and plates is typical of the period.

This is the most easily found of the three patterns, and like the other two is painstakingly handpainted. There is gold detailing on the bird, two gold bands on the rim, and a filigree of gold tracery in the four navy blue medallions in the centre of each side of the rim.
